Jackson Rhoads Drooling The amp is a 1980s Laney 50w valve combo, and needless to say it absolutely shreds. The acoustic is a Tanglewood which was my first guitar bought for me by my dad a few years back.

I think the Rhoads is one of the most metal looking guitars you can get. However if I had loads of cash to spare I think I'd look for one with the shark-fin inlays and a strung-through bridge. I never use the Floyd Rose on mine so it's just a nuisance when I want to change tuning.

My early 90's Korean Squire Strat (made with all US fender parts, before Squire went cheap, shit and to China!)

A lovely piece of kit,. I also play an Epiphone Valve Junior amp, one volume nob, no bullshit, just a lovely clean valve sound that breaks up nicely as you crank it up. They retail at £99.

Aye, but it hardly ever goes out of tune, even after a massive divebombing session... awesome guitar. (it's a modified Kahler trem, completly rock solid)

Even up for sale if anyone's interested...

Criss Oliva of the band Savatage was a truly excellent guitarist. Their album 'Gutter Ballet' contains probably the best guitar work you will hear on any heavy metal record ever. If you are into filesharing or whatever, have a listen to the track 'Unholy' - A typical example of his handiwork.

Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins has put out a lot of soulless commercial crap over the years, but he certainly knows a thing or two about playing the guitar. The Pumpkins' first album 'Gish' is full of lead fills and brilliant melodic solos.

I`ve never been a great fan of widdly widdly stuff such as Vai or Satriani, however my time when I was really into bands would have been around the GnR/Motley Crue time.

Dave Mustaine`s a excellent player as is Dave Murray. That sort of stuff really.

In a totally different style though, Jan Akkerman`s always impressed me.
